HOW DID WE START?

Earls Barton Music was founded in 1993 to promote music-making of all kinds in the community of Earls Barton. It rapidly became established as a vibrant part of community life, developing into a performing society as well as hosting events by visiting performers and promoting performance activities for young people.

 

WHAT DO WE DO?

The catalogue of works we have performed ranges from classical to contemporary, both religious and secular — literally - from Mozart to Music Hall taking in pop and well known shows on the way. Our key strength is the ability to offer amateur vocalists and instrumentalists the opportunity to perform together in a spirit of camaraderie. We have produced and hosted 5 community music events ‘Earls Barton at the Castle’ to full houses featuring other community performing organizations and showcasing local schoolchildren in shows specially written by some of our members.

 

WHO ARE WE?

Performers are mainly members of the village community or have some connection with the village, emphasising the wealth of local talent available. Not content with Earls Barton EBM has toured extensively and has played as far afield as Wellingborough, Orlingbury and Finedon.      In the words of Musical Director, Jon Rees,

 

“We happen to think that everyone has a musical talent of some description ... and our purpose is to give everyone associated with us a chance to perform".

 

Our members range from 18 to over 80 so if you fancy joining an active singing society and can sing in tune come along and join us. There are no auditions for the choir.
